about us

agrathaer was founded in 2011 and is a spin-off from the Leibniz-Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF).

The focus of our work lies in transfer activities: We bring specialist expertise into agricultural practice – for example by developing implementation plans for stakeholders from politics and public administration. We develop custom-made, sustainable products and services for our clients that link scientific expertise to research infrastructure and many years of management experience. The basis of our work is ZALF’s expertise in the land use domain, complemented by agrathaer’s economic and socioeconomic expertise. agrathaer works together with ZALF-experts subject to staff secondments or on a freelance basis. Their scientific expertise contributes to our services’ high standards of professionalism, which are always at the cutting edge of research.

We focus on finding appropriate and customer-oriented answers to specific questions from politics and the private sector. Our clients are predominately stakeholders from politics and public administration. We develop analyses and strategies for them that are scientifically sound and, at the same time, designed to be ready for implementation.

Our strongest asset is our powerful team with its interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary training. agrathaer’s solutions are always developed in conjunction with a number of experts from different backgrounds who have sound experience in drawing up analyses and strategy concepts, and of making evaluations in the agricultural and environmental science sectors.

By the way: Our name derives from Albrecht Daniel Thaer, the founder of agricultural science. He was extremely versatile and thought holistically, which is also the way we work.
