DIWELA – Field day provides exclusive insight into the soil structure

On October 26, 2021, the focus at ZALF will be on soil structure. The soil structure is the spatial arrangement of soil components.

FACTS
Date:

Tuesday, October 26, 2021

When:

9:15 am

Where:

ZALF e.V., Eberswalder Str. 84, 15374 Müncheberg in the conference center (House 4)

In the DIWELA project (“Innovative analysis of soil structure and soil life: Development of a diagnostic tool for the farmer to increase soil fertility”), structural conditions were systematically investigated for six years by Dr. Monika Joschko, Senior Scientist at ZALF, and other partners in long-term field trials and practical farms using digital methods (micro-computed tomography (CT) and medical CT images). These techniques, which are otherwise used for medical purposes or material testing, provide an undisturbed insight into the interior of farmers’ most important resource: the soil. This unique view of the soil structure and its structured approach will be presented in detail to a wider audience for the first time.
