How can results be transferred? – What to do about the shortage of skilled workers – Data procurement for AI projects
We would like to discuss these and other topics with you and, above all, find ideas for solving the problems raised.

The DigiFood networking and transfer project is now in its third year. Over the past few months, we have conducted a variety of research to find out which topics are being discussed in the food industry in particular. We were able to uncover the weak points that make digitalization in the industry more difficult. The aim now is to record the findings and solutions and make them available to everyone in the food industry. These videos have a training character and are intended to help drive innovation in the food industry.

The following topics will be addressed first:

  • Dissemination and application of the results
How can the findings and results from the projects be transferred into industry-specific formats?

  • Lack of specialists with IT skills in the food industry
How can training and further education for IT skills in the food industry be promoted in order to meet the high demands in the sector? From discussions and surveys in the DigiFood project, we have established that there is a great need for adequately trained staff in the use of AI-supported processes. Existing employees need to be trained and new staff need to be recruited. Both represent a major challenge for companies.

  • Time sequence of project implementation using the example of data procurement
A comprehensive database is usually required for the implementation of innovative applications in the food industry. The integration of data procurement into the project framework is a major challenge due to the sometimes short duration. This is particularly evident in projects involving artificial intelligence (AI) applications. As the data situation is often insufficient at the start of the project, especially for the development of data-driven AI, the data must be procured during the project period. This requires a considerable amount of time, which – unfortunately all too often – hinders development work, if not makes it impossible. The transformation into hardware often has to be curtailed and test phases shortened. As a result, higher TRLs (Technology Readiness Levels) cannot be achieved. The consequence of this is that at the end of the project term, there are unfinished applications that often do not make it into practice.

The videos will consist of real film sequences and explanatory sections. In order to realise this, we need support from experts, representatives from the industry and innovation projects. This is the only way we can develop helpful tips and solutions from the industry to the industry.
