Project Goal

FoodSHIFT2030 aims to transform the European food system into a low-carbon, sustainable production with long lifespan and reusability. The project is characterized by a broad multi-actor consortium with 31 partners, consisting of local governments, SMEs, NGOs, universities, research institutions, and network partners, including agrathaer.

The rapid, citizen-oriented transition of the food system is initiated in the FoodSHIFT Accelerator Labs in nine leading urban regions: Greater Athens, Avignon, Barcelona, Bari, Brasov, Berlin, Copenhagen, Oostende, and Wroclaw. Each lab will work on the further development, combination, and impact of existing innovations in the food system within a specific innovation focus. Subsequently, the knowledge will be transferred to the FoodSHIFT Enabler Labs in 27 following urban regions.

agrathaer leads Work Package 5 to enhance the impact of innovations in the food system. This involves facilitating knowledge exchange in various areas:

  1. between the FoodSHIFT Accelerator Labs,
  2. between the FoodSHIFT Accelerator Labs and the FoodSHIFT Enabler Labs, and
  3. through existing networks for sustainable cities in Europe, even beyond the project duration.

agrathaer also collaborates with the Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) e. V. Together, we support the Berlin Food Policy Council and THF Vision in implementing the Berlin Lab.

FoodSHIFT2030 is coordinated by the University of Copenhagen.
