Aim of the project
transNetz for a competitive, attractive and diverse food trade!
As part of the program to promote innovation, the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) is funding a total of 10 innovation projects with 22 sub-projects that aim to maintain and expand the tradition and diversity of the food trade in Germany through new ideas.
transNetz establishes a vital network with the stakeholders. The aim is to accelerate the future-oriented development of the food trade and ensure that even smaller businesses remain competitive and can retain or attract qualified staff. This requires a structural and content-related framework that promotes collaborative innovation between artisan businesses and research – an innovation ecosystem.
Our goals are
- to establish an overarching network between and with the players,
- to establish topic-specific clusters in the food trade and
- make knowledge and results accessible to various target groups.

The policy brief provides an overview and some recommendations for politicians and administrators. It contains
- the results of the analysis of the framework conditions for innovation research in the food trade.

The aim of this policy brief is to provide support for a long-term strategy for an innovation ecosystem in the food trade.

In this video, an expert from the field of regional marketing and distribution in the retail sector and an expert who produces an oat drink for organic retailers and wholesalers have a lot to say. For innovation to happen, food artisans need an environment that leaves room to develop and implement new ideas. An innovation ecosystem. In the video series “Food artisans innovate!”, various topics are addressed that enable innovation. These include networking, consumer behavior, marketing and recruitment.
These topics were identified as particularly important for innovations in the transNetz networking and transfer project through research and surveys. The videos offer solutions on how problems in the food trade can be solved. So that the food trade remains competitive, attractive and diverse in the future.
The video was conceived and implemented by agrathaer GmbH as part of the program to promote innovation in the networking and transfer project transNetz (network for knowledge transfer in the food trade).
The three-year project is funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) and supervised by the Federal Agency for Agriculture and Food (FKZ 281A403317). The content of the videos is based on the results of the research and workshops within the project. The presentation of the craft enterprises, companies and initiatives is not to be understood as a recommendation or promotion of these by the BMEL. Participation in the interviews was voluntary.
